Harman had two sides to their booth at Photo Plus here in NYC. Literally. One side had their new inkjet paper on baryta base, and on the other side of the wall were the silver gelatin papers. I've mentioned in another post about how good the digital silver gelatin prints from Elevator looked, but there's no harmin mentioning it again.

Harman (not 'Ilford') are going to produce baryta-based inkjet paper. I've used the Oriental glossy baryta inkjet paper and, apart from the smell and the ability to hot mount, I wasn't impressed. Harman plan to have the matte version of thier baryta paper available at the start of next year, and the glossy paper will follow. They did not have any samples of the glossy paper available, but samples of prints on the matte paper were being handed out. It's very difficult to tell from a single sample, especially when someone else prints it and it doesn't include a very wide range of tones, but the results looked very similar to Innova FibaPrint Ultrasmooth. I couldn't get any sample sheets of the Harman paper to try for myself, but they say that sample packs will be on sale.

Best,
Helen
