Hi all,

This is one of my favorite cameras (and there's a good chance I might get cold feet and turn around tomorrow and close this listing) but it's not getting as much use as it used to and I need to pay for some other equipment so I'm letting it go to a new home.

This is the famed Voigtlander BESSA III 667W with the 55mm f4.5 Color-Skopar (equivalent to 28mm on 35mm). This is the less common and more sought after version of the Fuji GF670W. The camera is in near perfect condition. The only visible wear is a slight bit of rubbing on the base plate as would be expected. The glass is in perfect condition and has always been covered by a Heliopan UV filter that comes included. The shutter is perfect as is the light meter. The viewfinder is and rangefinder and big, bright, beautiful, and perfect as well. Camera takes both 120 and 220. It's a powerhouse.

If you've been wanting one of these for a while, here's your chance. If you want to shoot street or documentary photography with a handheld medium format, this is the camera. There's a reason you never see these on the used market so get it while you can.

Asking $2800 OBO.

Thanks!

Lots of messages about this one so I thought I'd field a few of them here since some are seeming pretty common.

  • Yes, the camera can absolutely be used for street photography. It does so amazingly well. I'm a Leica shooter and I've shot it side by side with my M cameras frequently and it's a totally seamless transition between the two.

  • The camera has a leaf shutter. It is almost entirely silent. I mean so quiet that you'll often be unsure that it's actually released the shutter. This thing makes a Leica sound like a sonic boom. It is actually the quietest shutter I've ever heard. There is probably near to 0 measurable vibration caused by the shutter which means that if you have steady hands and a stationary subject, you should be able to make handheld exposure down to 1/8 of a sec (that was the case for me).

  • Yes, the camera takes 120 film and 220. I'll include a few rolls for whoever takes the camera.

  • The Color-Skopar is known for being ridiculously sharp and beautifully corrected. This is equivalent to about a 28mm on 35mm format. Again great for street photography as well as landscape and architectural. Focus throw is super smooth and the length of the throw is just right for the focal length.

  • I've never been bothered by the f4.5 aperture at all. I'm not the kind of person that needs f2 or f1.2 on all of my lenses and I just never really used the camera in low light situations where the aperture would have been an issue. For those who tend to shoot in daylight hours, there will be no problem. I usually shoot Portra 400 and have never had any issues with shutter speeds being too slow. Shoot it under the conditions it's made for and you'll be more than happy.

  • The viewfinder is as good as they say it is. It's super bright and big and a joy to use. It's always easy to see through and the framelines with parallax correction work beautifully and the rangefinder patch is contrasty and always easy to see. This is another area where the camera has Leica beat. The viewfinder is really just lovely.

Thanks for all the interest. This camera will make someone very very happy. I'm lowering to asking price to $2500 to hopefully make it a little more accessible. If it's in the budget, don't miss this opportunity!

Wow...how'd you let this one go?? I have the GF670W and I'll never get rid of it! A camera will, sadly, never be made like this again.

Yea, it is really a fantastic one and I'll miss it but it just wan't getting the kind of use that it deserves. Trying to prune the collection down and pay for some new gear. The camera is going to make someone very very happy!

I sold mine a couple of months ago. Fantastic camera but I didn't use it as much as the GF670. I prefer the folder because it folds sorta out of the way and takes up less space.

To me, these two cameras make THE best pair. I have a bag that can fit both comfortably and so carry them around a LOT. Sometimes you need wide, sometimes you dont. At least that's how my shooting goes.
