I have three different Hansa contact printers. I presume you mean the one for 35mm film?

If so you place the film under the clips, note that the axle end clips do slide back and forth to allow for either 6 frames or 4 frames.

You place the film on the glass with the emulsion facing you, place the correct paper, emulsion side up on the foam, close the unit and clip it down, then make an exposure under the enlarger.

Thanks Mick, Yes mine is 35mm. My particular issue is that the clips at either end are between the negs and the paper (the way you have described) and are just thick enough to make the images at both ends slightly blurred. I have tried to make a sandwich with the paper slipped in behind the negs under the clips but it is a "messy" solution (my old Paterson contact printer held the paper in such a way). Just wondering if I have missed something here with the Hansa?
thanks and cheers!
