Hanging / Displaying prints at home - Magnetic / Matted (and not) and other ways

I've not typically matted my photos for home display but printed with a white border and used wood "frame sticks", mounted to the wall and then held with another of the same color using magnets (like these: Stiicks ). These were great in my other house and my basement became a gallery of rotating "art" photos. Large prints were also good for seeing whether I really like a photo or not, or whether I could improve the printing process.

Since you guys have been at this a lot longer than I, I'm wondering if you have a better process, or source or approach. Do you use Gatorfoam board to mount before hand? I haven't.... but there's a case for that. Just curious what others are doing. Thanks!

I've had good results with long interlocking cleat systems like Hangman. I doubt magnets would hold the weight of my framed work. Mounting board is another topic and contingent on what kind of prints you intend to mount. Gatorboard needs to be sanded in order to accept acrylic adhesive foils; and then you need a high-pressure roller device for the mounting process itself, an expensive item requiring a learning curve. You don't want to use Gator for drymounting with a heat press. You can use it as a stiff backing board behind something already mounted, but there are less expensive alternatives. It's hard to give you an answer without more specifics. Entire handbooks and many tech sheets have been published on mounting board options and how to use them.
