Hi to all apug users.

I'm JP.
I currently shoot medium and large-format black and white film. Ilford PanF 50, FP4 plus and HP5 plus.

I use:
Ziess Ikon Nettar (red flag) 6x6.
and
Crown Graphic 4x5.

I develop my own negatives at home in two Paterson tanks, one of which is converted to hold two 4x5 sheets.
I homebrew my own developer from raw chemicals, and have currently settled on D76 and occasionally D23 or a Stoeckler two-bath.
I have darkroom experience; but currently due to financial constraints I don't have access to a darkroom.
I scan negatives on a tabletop (Logan slim-edge A7a lightbox) using 5.1mp Sony DSCP100 digicam mounted on a budget macro stand - not the greatest arrangement, but sufficient for most of my immediate requirements.

Looking forward to the discussions and fellowship here at APUG.

Cheers
JP

Welcome to Apug! Which part of Scotland are you from? Been there many times. Dad's from Invergordon.

Hi Andrew, thanks for the welcome. I'm in Glasgow - South-side, near Hampden Park.

Hi JP and welcome!
We have been to Scotland several times before and love it!

I've only been to Germany once - Munich Airport to Pertisau, Austria by overnight bus, around 1977.
Austria was nice, I'm sure Germany is too...maybe someday I'll see more of it.
Thanks for the welcome

Welcome JP!
I'll be in Scotland next week, visiting my mum in Forfar.

Don't forget your hat; we haven't really had our Winter yet - it's overdue !!

Greetings from Tasmania ... is that you in your avatar pic - dapper indeed. My dad was born in Dysart.. only an hour away from Hampden Park according to Google. Some 85+ years he left Dysart to work in a coal mine in Collie Western Australia ... looking at Dysart one can only wonder why he left such a beautiful part of the world. I have only recently moved into a Mamiya RB67 Pro SD and absolutely love the format.. I dream of 4x5 or larger. Building my darkroom this week and waiting on my order of raw chemicals to arrive - always used package stuff but now very excited about going from raw... Welcome from one of the Swan clan... apparently a nomadic clan that roamed the lands...

Welcome J.P, my father was born in Glasgow but came to England with his family as a baby. I have only been to Glasgow once myself to change trains when traveling to St.Andrews.

Welcome to APUG. Beautiful picture by the way, make sure you print this as soon as you get to a darkroom. Cheers

Welcome JP

Ian

Glad you found me Ian.
Decanted some of the Metol into a plastic tub last night.
Tub's full and still plenty more left in the bag.
Can't wait to get back out shooting.

Hi Geoffrey,
Dysart is in Fife which used to be well known as a coal-mining area, although not so much nowadays.
My brother is in Perth WA (Black Swan State funnily enough), and I have lots of extended family in Adelaide and Sydney.
I recently sold my RB67 pro s and two lenses (65mm + 127mm). Broke my heart, but I'm now smitten with my Crown Graphic.
And yes, that's me in the avatar. I tried a little re-creation of THIS photo of Arthur Fellig (Weegee), although I spent so long hunting down a cigar that I forgot to attach my big flash unit.
Good luck with the darkroom build, I'm jealous.

Go Tazzy !!

Arthur Fellig (Weegee)

Thanks for the compliment and the welcome naeroscatu.
I might have guessed ''Frost on Ivy'' would be appreciated by a Canadian, especially at this time of year.

I too like the image you have posted. I lived in BishopBriggs for a year in 1980 and worked at the Southern General Hospital in Paisley. The frost suggests climate has changed since my time. In 1980 it rained every day to Christmas then snowed 1/4 inch which melted in a few hours then rained for the next six months. We use to drive to Motherwell to get out of the rain!
As a non sequitur, I just bought a 1855 Daguerreotype by a photographer at 14 Buchanan Street!
Welcome

Thanks for the welcome cowanw.

Actually, the only constant in the Scottish weather is change.
Mondays-rain from the North, Tuesdays-rain from the West, Wednesdays-rain from the South...etc etc.
On Saturday, the rain comes from every direction at the same time and it's usually horizontal !!

I wouldn't live anywhere else.
