I just took delivery of a Halina A1 TLR said to be working in the eBay blurb....but the shutter seems partly stuck open and there is a noise like something rattling around inside the camera. I've looked at two Youtube videos to ensure I know how the shutter is supposed to be fired....and I think this one is dead.
Just wondering how difficult it is to open it up and look? Or should I just go for a refund. It's hardly the best TLR out there and only cost me £11.
Some more fiddling especially with the part that moves when the shutter is cocked (when the lever is moved clockwise) I've managed to close the shutter but it won't reopen. So I am guessing the leaves are sticky? Or possibly the thing rattling around inside is a spring?
The leaves may be sticky but what you're seeing through the lens is the aperture. Loose enough to rattle probably.
Fixing that's going way beyond what you might want to tackle as as first repair. My guess is that it would be the
start of a parts assortment/collection.
Personally I'd return it and hope it never darkens my doorstep again.
Thanks for the advice...though it's definitely not the aperture as I can see that operating smoothly as it should.
The seller has agreed to take it back for a full refund....just got to figure out getting to a post office which is becoming a logistical nightmare these days.
