Just a very long shot Andy and is based on simple observation of the pics and not any real knowledge. Could it be that the angle of the shot in strong sunlight gave the white fronts of the huts an intense glare that was fine to the naked eye but on film results in this look. I notice that in the full frontal shots the white huts are still intensely white , almost a burnt out look a la burnt out highlights on a B&W.
By the way how are stocks of Kodak VR down your way. As you will know I was finding both 200 and 400 in my local Aldi but it has disappeared completely. I suspect that maybe Aldi only bought a finite quantity and when it's gone it's gone.
