I'm planning a trip up to these parts in late march 2008, I'll probably miss the APUG meet in April.

I'm planning on two photos to fill part of a long running series, one of Sycamore gap and another of the wall itself.

Can someone recommend a good part of the wall to photograph?

pick any guide of winter climbs in the Ben Nevis, you'll get a really close idea .

I was trawling through old posts and came across this. I guess it might not be too late to make a suggestion. I live in the Tyne valley and have visited the wall many times although I keep forgetting exactly where Sycamore gap is.

I would suggest three car parks that each give fine views of the wall on walking eastward for a short distance.

Walltown
Cawfields
nr Twice Brewed (gives the best views in my opinion)

Housesteads is good as well but it is more of a hike to the wall.

sycamor gap is always a favourite

there are plenty of good spots to get shots of the wall between the car park nearest the tree and the tree itself

Yes Sycamore Gap has been photographed a zillion times, but it links in with a series of ancient sites that I have been documenting which are significant to the Ulster-Scots. (see avatar of the Giant's Ring).

Hadrian's Wall marks the site where two continents collided to form what is now the British Isles...fascinating!

I'm not sure that collided is the correct description. I was taught that it was more of a "make work" project, much the same as Churchill's road building programme in the UK during the 1920's.

The Romans built a wall which runs parallel with a very ancient border.
