Dear PE et al,

Well, my four year old and I have just put our first contact speed azo-type emulsion in the fridge.

Coating day is Saturday.

Will keep you posted.

Cheers,
Clarence

In the words of George Eastman himself "Let us pray for the emusion".

Oremus.

PE:

Was this your 5,000th post?

If so, quite appropriate, I'd say.

Sounds like a good day for the homebrew emulsion crowd!
I wish I could report something positive like this, but I'm just too busy and broke to play with AgNO3 et al at the moment

Good luck with the emulsion, and let us know how you get on.

Who is counting Matt!

Maybe it was all blather. It depends on who you ask I suppose.

BTW, the name of this thread sounds like something from a Harry Potter setting rather than an emulsion making setting.

Maybe they are both magic.

Emulsion good. Coating bad.

Actually it refers to whether ortho or panchromatic smoke issues from the chimney.

I did a test coat of three sheets on Sunday. Not bad, but I need to secure the platform a bit better. Oh yes, and I forgot to carry the one, so the blade was running short of emulsion by the end of a 14" strip. The portion that was covered exposed and developed rather well.

More coating tomorrow.

Speaking of forethought or lack thereof, I found myself with three coated sheets in the darkroom and no place to dark-store them wet, so I could open the door.

Cheers,
Clarence

Clarence, I did that once and had to have my wife come to the rescue and turn out all of the lights to let me out of the darkroom. When I started yelling for help, she thought I had gotten hurt and almost charged into the darkroom, so I had to hold the door shut and explain what I wanted to her.

Good luck to you and thanks for the update.

Haha. BTDT as well... my darkroom is in the loft, so I finished up putting the still wet sheets in an old paper box while I went downstairs to borrow my sister's hairdryer, then going back up and blow drying the sheets!
As usual, hindsight is always 20/20

Anyway, glad to hear you got some results.
