The H Scale works sometimes on my Pentax 1/21 Spot Meter. If I take out the battery it will start working for a while. The L Scale always works. The meter had plenty of green stuff in the battery compartment. I was able to get most of it off with vinegar. I have tried a new battery...Not so sure what else to try?

Also if someone has the meter would you please post a picture of the inside of the battery compartment door? The spring came off and I just want to see exactly where it connects.

Thanks
Josh

I've only had one of those apart, years ago. I seem to recall a two position switch to activate the meter. Hope that helps.

I can't access my Flickr stuff from work (banned, evil, whatever).

murrayatuptowngallery.

I have a crude disassembly photo sequence there for it. It's not photojournalism, OK? But it should help.

The one I recently broke had developed an intermittency. I think, but can't recall for certain if it was on one range only.

It turned out to be a battery ground wire which is connected to the tripod socket. I never use the tripod socket on a tripod but had a wriststrap screwed into it. That is what loosened up the ground nut inside.

It worked after I tightened the nut inside, which I think required explanation in the photo sequence.

The wrist strap didn't save it last time because I forgot it was in the crook of my arm & fell.

If you can't find the Flickr photos, PM or email me.

Hi Murray

I found your photo sequence. Thanks.

On my meter the tripod socket is on the battery door. When I open the battery door there was a spring attached that has since come off. Although i think it isn't the ground wire as it looks totally different then what you have I still have the spring and just need to figure out how to reattach it hopefully. Possible the spring only functions as part of the opening / locking mechanism of battery door...

I will take a closer look at your photos and see if i can figure it out.

Thanks

I will look this weekend.

I have 4 non-working ones (someday I will reinvent them, somehow). I know where 2 or 3 are located. One is miissing the battery door.

Without looking at the pic(too easy) is the a raised segment on the door? Say about 1X3mm? If it is the end of the spring just threads into it as you would screw in a well, screw.

I have just aquired a 1/21 spot meter. I was looking thru the internet an noticed you had disassembly photos. I would like to see them. How can I access these photos?

Thanks
