I recently got a Fuji GX680, I'm doing some testing and when I take a shot, the shot goes off, but the mirror does not return, requiring me to turn the camera of and turn it back on in between shots.

I hanged the batteries and they re fresh. Any ideas?

Batt OK and warn lights are flashing.

With film back it makes a beeping noise after I shoot.

Thanks in advance. ad

You’ve probably checked this but is the mirror switch in the ‘up’ position?

Mine’s a iii and the mirror remains up after the shot if the switch is up. Although with power cycling fixing the problem it doesn’t sound like the mirror switch. The different models react differently to the mirror up switch.

if it’s not that you might try a brand new set of batteries. I’ve heard people talk about varying battery voltages causing problems and have also heard that the indicator shows completely full right up to when they die.

Is it a model iii, and if so is the lcd on the film back showing which component is throwing the error?

All the electronics contacts good and clean?

Note there is a repair manual available online-- not sure where I found mine, but search for "Fuji GX680 Repair Manual". It's a bit large, as it contains about 4 or 5 separate books. (https://learncamerarepair.com)

If both lights are blinking alternately, and there's a 3 second beep from the film holder, that sounds like "A trouble has occurred on the camera and/or lens". Try reseating the lens (inspect contacts), using a different lens if you have one, or it's most likely, a problem with the mirror drive. (Page 57, Troubleshooting, "Fuji GX680 Electrical System)

If you power-cycle the camera, and flip the mirror up, does it go up?

If you then flip the mirror switch to down, does it drop all the way?

Remove the film back, and verify the operation.

If it's not closing all the way, something's jamming, or the motor has a problem. If it closes all the way, then it's the photocoupler that detects the mirror's position-- could be mechanical or electrical, will take further research.

I think it my have been the contacts on the lens, I cleaned them no it’s working now. I do get weird color shifts when I’m using my hasselblad 39mp back and speeds faster than 1/8. Now I have to figure that out

Glad to hear you got it working.

Enjoy. It’s a great and very capable camera.

Yes it is-- I took mine out in the yard today on a tripod to try some close-up photography.
