Hey guys, anyone know a method to lock the hood into place? It kinda moves around...
I've searched quite a bit and some people seem to have removed it, but I would like to keep it as stock as possible.

no idea how to lock it in place but I agree, don't remove it. Maybe some kind of rubber band behind it to keep it extended?

I just checked mine for you. Extended it moves around a bit. If you move it around. Yeah I wish it would lock into place like on a Leica lens, but seeing this entire camera with its incredible lens costs anything from 1/3 to 1/10 of just a Leica lens with locking hood, I don't mind so much.

p.s. my GW690III is in excellent shape - looks barely used.

Not bothered by it. I just thought that back during design it could have a sort of turning lock or bayonet action. I don't know if it was a piece of felt that gave its friction.

A few days ago I left the camera on desk with the hood open and it tipped so the hood supported its weight and afterwards it was looser. A few days later it seems to be the same as before.

Huss mentions the shape: I've noticed by not having the original slip on lenscap, that the paint at the edge of the hood wears because of friction in my bag. I was thinking about getting a neoprene lens bag that could be put over the lens and act as a cap as well -- saw that tip somewhere.

I use this on my GSW690III https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00009R9BJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've re-tried using the rubber band on it, kinda stays. but definitely hinders with changing the shutter speed a bit.
Anyone has a picture of it hacked off?

Hood is usually removed to allow the use of a Lee or Cokin filter system... seen a pic somewhere but can't find it at the moment... If you use filters then it's your choice....

I have 3 of these wonderful cameras. If you want a rubber lens hood just retract the original and screw on on. Mine are not loose. I can see how this could be a bit annoying. They are short for a reason since 90 mm is pretty wide and the use the same hood on the 65mm camera.
If I could only have one camera ................
