I'm pleased to announce a new outlet for alternative process workshops located in New York City. The organization is called the Center for Alternative and Historic Processes. I will be teaching gum bichromate over platinum printing November 4-6, 2005. Other classes this fall include wet plate collodion, albumen printing, gelatin silver mural printing, calotype and more. Go to http://www.cfaahp.org/ for more info.

That looks great! I'll definitely be looking into the Center. I'm not ready for gum over platinum yet, but the albumen workshop looks interesting. I just sent them an e-mail.

Patricia Katchur, one of the founders, wrote me right back.

Time to make a batch of ensaimadas (the recipe I have calls for 40 egg yolks, though I usually only make a quarter recipe, and I never can use all the whites).

Do you have a cardiologist on call 24/7?

Thanks Kerik,

I will be in NYC weekend of the 8 th and 9 th....I might try to catch that Albumen Class.....wonder if I have to bring eggs from home? I've heard eggs from range fed hens give Albumen prints that special glow....Vintage prints were all made from range fed eggs.....that is not in any of the photo history books but I know it to be true...

And I would never doubt you, Dave. Well, not very often. OK, maybe half the time...

BTW folks, don't fear the gum over platinum class. The process is really pretty simple. Heck, even Mr. Wooten can do it! If you're not into the look, that's cool, but don't be intimidated by the process.

Besides, if we don't get a few people signed up, I don't get to go to NYC! :surprised:

You've seen The New Yorker's picture of the world, haven't you? Europe is that tiny thing way, way at the other end of the world. What could possibly be going on there?

Just kidding, in case anyone couldn't tell!

Don't you have similar workshops in London or Paris, or perhaps Rome? I would have thought so...
