Guide to taking apart and cleaning a Nikon 50mm 1.4 AIS?

Recently pulled the Nikon 50mm 1.4 out of the closet to realize there looks to be a slight drip of oil coming onto one of the lens elements

Aperture still seems to be snappy, smooth, and efficient as is the focus ring, but I figure I might as well make this my first foray into a lens CLA

Recommended guides? How does this lens compare in complexity of cleaning?

Dunno, but why not get yourself a cheapo tamron or series E to practice on? If you have all the tools, its not so much a problem if your handy, but if you are starting from scratch, (har, har) your have a higher chance of gouging the lens experimenting with improvised spanners.

you need a round plastic pill or ointment box with outside diameter just under 52 mm and pair of rubber kitchen gloves to remove name plate if the oil is at front part lens.

you google Nikon 1.4 5cm dismantle as well.

If you dont fixyour autu yourself forget.

remove the decorator ring and the front group should just unscrew. or even just drop out
some lenses ma have three crosspoint screws & a retaining plate or thin spanner ring that also needs to be taken out.
if you need to lift the group out use a small suction cup from one of those window decoration dealies.

If you value the lens, don't. You'll need the right tools and skill using them before you even begin.
Be advised, there is an infinite number of ways to ruin something and most are illustrated in spewtube tutorials. On the other hand, said tutorials can also be very good. But, you won't know until too late.

+1 to getting something else you don't care about (parts/broken/fungus-infested version of same) to try first. I've got 20+ varieties of lenses under my belt now and still have to take things very very slowly to not wreck anything.
