Hi, folks - if the last two guys who sent me PM's commit, we'll be at the ten copy mark and can get our order out.
Here's the details from Sanders as to cost to obtain a signed copy from him directly:
Assuming a North American buyer of a hardbound volume:
The cover price is $85. To that, the publisher (Blurb) adds sales tax of about $7, and shipping of about $10, for a total of $102. For a volume purchase, Blurb will give Sanders a $6 discount per book. If the books are shipped to him for signing, he'll have to pay to reship them to the buyers. His discounted FedEx 3-day rates run $6 to $9 for US buyers, $13 for Canadians, and off the charts for overseas addresses. USPS rates will likely be only marginally cheaper, with no tracking data and rougher transits.
If Sanders did nothing more than pass on the Blurb discount, the price per book would be $96 + shipping. ($85 + $7 tax + $10 shipping from Blurb, - $6 discount.) To make this work, Sanders has indicated that he'll reduce his share as well, so that the signed hardcover version could go out for $90, including tax and both shipping expenses. The softcover edition is $15 cheaper, so the softcover price would be $75 inclusive of tax and all shipping charges.
Overseas buyers (only one potential from Oz so far) might need to pay a bit more for shipping if the shipping prices for them turn out to be much in excess of $15.
I'll be in touch with those who've PM'd already. In the meantime, if any others want to get in on this and support Sanders' project, please let me know. Again, I don't have any interest save and except that I plan on ordering a signed copy myself, and would like to support a fellow APUGer whose work I appreciate.
Thanks, Graham
