Ground glass is usually held in with clips that push it with gentle tension.

I'm building view cameras and I don't know where to get clips like this. Any ideas for substitute? I'm thinking about using 4 screws with nylon washers or springy washers. What do you think?

Spring clips are .030 to .060 brass. Heat treating may make it into a spring once formed.

Heating brass only anneals it and makes it softer, even if you quench it. There is spring temper bronze available at places like Mcmaster Carr, but I am not sure that you would need that.

You can cut baling steel straps that are quite good as springs when bent, I made mine from them.
I will try to post a pic.
I glued some rubber where the clip meets the glass and the clip was bent bow shaped to give the spring.

What is baling steel? You mean those metal bands used to hold together crates and such? Do you cut it with a dremel tool?

That is correct, I used a hacksaw & file but dremel will do just as well if not better (wear goggles).
