Hello! I tend to go by dralnah in most online circles; you can call me David as well, I don't mind either way. In my mid-late 20s currently, I live in Maryland, though a lot of my photography takes me down to the northern VA area. I've only been into photography for the past year and a half or so, and solely digital thus far. Originally it was an excuse to pick up something new to use for live streaming (I used to do a lot more of it than I do now) and to get outside, as most of my hobbies involve me sitting at a computer for hours a day. Picking up a camera sort of catapulted me down a different path with my hobbies where I ended up being much more creative; I've started making longer-form YouTube videos, journaling and learning calligraphy, reading, and writing. It's been good to get in touch with my creative side again.

The only camera I own and use regularly is a Fujifilm X-T4; it serves more or less every purpose I need as far as expressing myself creatively, and it's an excellent piece of gear. However, a number of my friends primarily shoot film, and while I don't think that 35mm film would really "do much for me," so to speak, I'm very interested in large format photography, and I'd like to learn a bit more here before diving in. I shoot just about anything except portraits nowadays and try not to limit myself (aside from monetarily; I do have to keep myself to a budget). Mostly just happy to be around and talking to other people who are passionate about what they do.

Nice to meet you all, happy to talk about things and learn; I'm sure I'll end up asking questions and going down rabbit holes on this forum eventually. If you're interested in my photography feel free to look here: http://dralnah.com/

Regards,

Dralnah

Welcome to Photrio! Large format folks are known to use X-ray film from time to time, (cheap but a pain trimming to size) Digital is amazing, if you want to dabble in analog there's a thousand ways to go.

Welcome!!

That's great to hear! A camera can indeed work like a gateway drug to a larger universe. Welcome aboard, it's nice to have someone join us with such a broad range of interests - you'll fit right in!

Welcome to Photrio! I mainly use large format, from 4x5 up to 14x17. I sometimes do use 35 and 120, but LF is where it is at, for me! I also have a youtube channel, where I do weekly uploads. I uploaded one on the weekend where I was working with a meniscus lens, on 8x10 x-ray film. Love this simple lens! Anyway, look forward to seeing your work here! Cheers!
