Greetings, I actually joined in Sept 2007 after picking up a couple of cameras to add to my small collection. I've been lurking and finding most of my questions had already been asked and answered plenty of times in the past. The search function here is like a trip to the library.

My father had collected interesting looking cameras and was pretty good with one himself. I was hooked after I picked up a couple of TLR cameras from a popular online auction site. About the same time, one of my sons started photography class in school and after we hit the pawn shops and local camera haunts, we found a nice canon A1. He started bringing home some of his completed assignments and I knew I had to get some film and start shooting.

My favorite camera is the minolta srt101. I do have a weakness for old folding model medium format cameras and TLRs. I now have a learners model 4 x 5 view camera that I am learning to use and I am waiting for delivery of a mamiya m645 today or tomorrow.

The darkroom is next!

At any rate, I figured it was time to actually post and say hello!

Welcome. Just curious as to what your "learner's 4x5" is. My experience thus far is limited to 35mm but am interested in moving to 4x5. Even acquired another enlarger that has 4x5 capability in preparation.

Bob, My learner view camera is a Calumet 4 x 5 with a Caltar 210 lens in A COPAL # 1 shutter. It extends 18 inches.

I've been picking up pieces for my darkroom as I find them on a tight budget and I've been lucky so far.

I just need trays and thermometers and a few more items!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TrayS? f you are in the USA, try Walmart or Target for cat litter trays.

For about $4 - $5 each, they'll do 11x14 in a pinch.

as for a thermometer i found a lovely one at bed bath and beyond that has a stainless lead and a built in timer,i like it alot.

Welcome from southwest PA! My learner view camera is pretty much the same as yours. It's not that tough to use, though it definitely takes longer and weighs more. Enjoy!

Yeah, I have a sr-T101 as well and I'm taking it along this weekend, leaving the M645j behind. Love the convenience of having the ability to take along a smaller camera. Welcome to the group.
