Hello all,
I am a recent newcomer to APUG (not yet a subscriber) and have signed up with Sean & company for my web hosting service.
I worked in portrait, wedding, commercial, and photojournalism over the past 30+ years. i made a major (and strange) career change almost five years ago. now i drive a truck, an 18 wheeler cross-country. From time-to-time what I take along varies: mamiya6 (my fave rf), rolleiflex 6002 & SLX (my fave SLR's), crown graphic, minolta autocord, oly om1, a franka solida, and most recently (from Mike Pry here - thank you!!) a Yashica T4 Zoom.
Following Sean's suggestion I initially posted this "call for help" in the "Lounge". After a thought or two I thought I might might post the following here as well.
I need a volunteer web designer to help build a website for NEVER FORGET BESLAN an on-going effort to assist victims of violent crimes. I already have the domain name registered at godaddy.com.
NEVER FORGET BESLAN is registered with the Texas Secretary of State as a non-profit organization. It does not have I.R.S. 501C (3) status yet (something else I urgently, urgently need help with).
It was formed in response to the September1, 2004 terrorist attack and massacre at Middle School Number One in Beslan, Russia. The Austin-American Statesman ran a front-page story on December 1, 2004 regarding the community collection drive 'Bears and Bandages for Beslan' and my journey to Russia to distribute the medical supplies, teddy bears, cards and posters contributed throuhghout central Texas.
The goal of NEVER FORGET BESLAN is to continue to provide person-to-person care through a variety of community outreach programs by connecting victims of violent crimes in central Texas with the survivors in Beslan, Russia and to ensure the victims and surviviors are never forgotten.
I also need:
(1) A person with experience in establishing and managing a NPO.
(2) As already noted, a webdesigner to build a website for NEVER FORGET BESLAN. I already have a registered domain name and service/server host.
(3) A mental health professional with expertise in dealing with vicitms of violent crimes.
(4) Native Russian language speakers & college level Russsian language graduate students.
(5) A development director for fund raising activities.
(6) A public relations and marketing professional to help raise public awareness
These are the most pressing areas for volunteers right now. Individuals of all ages, genders and ethnic backgrounds, social and service organizations, companies, all religious denominations and other groups are welcome. All you need is a genuine concern for victims of violent crimes and a determination to make a difference in the world.
A special request to the victims and survivors of violent crimes everywhere and their families: please join us in this mission of care, compassion and hope.
There is a yet-unfinnished website - www,neveforgetbeslan.com - that has photographs of the collection drive and journey to Beslan. There are also links to related media articles, organizations, and a listing of friends and contributors to NEVER FORGET BESLAN.
The seeds we plant today are the harvest of today's and tomorrow's children of the world. Please help.
