Hi everybody,

I am a kiwi living near Dumfries, been here for the last 7 years - lovely part of the country it is! I currently shoot using a Bronica and Holga - I have previously shot 35mm and 4x5 but have finally settled on 6x6 as my 'ideal' format.

I process all my film using a Jobo processor but (whispering) scan and print digitally  - I hope that doesn't put me in anybody's bad books!

I am in the process of building my website - pretty much finished, just adding more images. You can have a look if you like... www.sar-photography.com - any comments would be most welcome!

Cheers
Simon

Welcome, Simon. My people come from that neck of the woods. Don't know exactly where, but the official clan site is in Sorbie. One goal I have is to go to nearby Wigtown. When not in the book stores in Wigtown, I will be out photographing.

Welcome from a tad further north and I really liked the images on your site, plus the way it cycled through them. Even without checking your Biog I could tell from the shots that you had a sufficient number/variety of cameras to have found your spiritual home!

Regards, Peter

Hi Simon,
Welcome from another Kiwi, I've just joined APUG myself. What part of NZ do you come from? I have Scottish ancestry too.
Just had a quick look at your website, some nice pics there.

Hi Simon,
Welcome from Australia.
Like your site, nice graphic work, you will enjoy Apug and I look forward to your posts.
Seems like everyone comes from that part of the world and as you can probably tell from my name..... so do my ancestors!

Hi Janice, I was brought up in Paraparaumu - have been in Scotland for ten years and plan to move back to NZ in a few years.

Hi Tony, I live quite close to Lockerbie - not a bad place, but too close to the motorway for my liking!!

Cheers,
Simon

Hi Simon. Welcome from a Scotsman who lives in middle England with relatives in Dumfries who hail from Glasgow originally. It's called diversity. A bit like your range of cameras and shots .

Loved Ozzie. He has that caddish, slightly superior disdainful look. Cats are the George Saunders of the domestic pets world. If you're not old enough some of the venerable members will enlighten you on George Saunders. Plenty of us old enough unfortunately. It's chilling really.

Googled 'George Saunders' - came up with an actor, a writer and a comedian/after dinner speaker among others! Perhaps someone could tell me which George I should be looking for?

Cheers

That may be him. He was referred to as "the cad" That's old English-speak for a bit of a rogue but one from an upper class family. When Hollywood wanted a suave, disdainful but slightly untrustworthy Englshman with an eye for the ladies it was George.

When it wanted an upstanding, no nonsense, entirely trustworthy Englishman it was C Aubrey Smith.

If you ever get the chance try and see the original "Prisoner of Zenda" with Ronald Coleman and C Aubrey Smith as the goodies and Douglas Fairbanks Junior and I think, Raymond Massey as the baddies. Great film.

So while not in the above film he was part of Hollywood's 1930 and 40s English baddies. I think his voice was used in the cartoon Jungle Book. He was the the villainous tiger.

The recent UK Steradent adverts with an upper class tiger who refers to his teeth as "the old gnashers" is based on a cross between Lesley Phillips and George Saunders although the voice isn't George Saunders and maybe not even Lesley Phillips but it has drawn on those two.

George sadly has been dead for a number of years. If your reference cites a date of death then it is likely to be George.
