Hey guys. My name is Michael and I'm an amateur photographer in Queens, NY. I've worked at various photo labs doing this or that over the years, but I never really picked up a camera seriously until late 2016. I've been focusing on photography primarily as a creative outlet (and therapy) for myself, but being quite new to it all, I've yet to really find a voice or style to it.
I've primarily been reading various bits of information on the internet and in various books to learn not just the fundamentals, but also immerse myself in different styles, techniques, and philosophies to try to find which route calls to me most. As a result, there are no real coherent themes and most of my photography consists of experimenting with different things.
More recently, having gone back to school to finish my degree, I decided to take an Intro to Photography class, which has gotten me back to shooting 35mm film. So aside from my Nikon D810, I've purchased the Nikon FM2N and use it with Nikon AF-D glass, which works on both of my cameras (although it isn't really the perfect solution for either one in particular). It works fine for me, though, since I'm primarily concerned with the overall image rather than obsessing over absolute sharpness. I figure I should probably get myself to a point where I'm taking good photos before worrying so much about the technical limits of my gear...
Anyway, I found this site in multiple searches I've done regarding topics in photography—particularly since I began this photography class—so I decided to join and introduce myself. I look forward to learning a lot from you guys and getting better at the craft as I practice.
Wish you all the best and God bless.
