Hi,

I'm an amateur photographer that has been following the forum for quite a bit of time. I think this is a very good forum and wanted to register an account since long ago, but somehow i got a bit shy. The first thing that impressed me on this forum were the posts on photographic materials theory by Rowland Mowrey, really really really good stuff.

I have been doing analog photography since about 20 years, had my first darkroom when i was about 14 years old. I own about 14 film cameras plus two full frame d!g!tal SLRs, and I'm glad for this forum exists. I got some work as a concert and portrait photographer when i was studying Software Engineer, and now I just do photography as an amateur (in the sense of 'someone who loves to do it'). I'm doing street photography mostly, usually with a RB67 or a C330. Yes, i do carry the RB67 out on the streets.

There are many people who ask me why i'm not using a digital camera. I think digital cameras are a great invention, but i get a far more pleasant experience doing film photography. I'd never say that one form of photography is superior to the other.

This is the first time i introduce myself to any forum, so thanks for reading!

I think you have the correct reason for doing Analog photography. I, too, "get a far more pleasant experience doing film photography". Welcome!.....Regards

Hi flavio81

Welcome. I visited Peru and Lima, about 6 or maybe 7 years ago, there was Photo Festival on and some amazing work in galleries and some in a Park, actually the work in the Park was so refreshing as it engaged almost all the passerws by.

It's good to see people from smaller countries, they are under represesented on the major international forums like APUG.

Ian

Welcome to APUG. It's nice to see someone from Peru.

Thanks guys!!

Ian, next time you come here, i can tell you where go to connect with the local photography community. And where to get your film developed, of course. Here there are at least five pro-stores in Lima where we can get Foma, Ilford, Fuji (Provia 100F, Proplus 200, C200, and Acros), and some Kodak (Colorplus 200, Ektar 100, and 400TX).

Welcome Flavio!

Please show us photos from Lima.

I'll do when the time comes!! I have few scanned images, most of my images are still on physical form.

Welcome to APUG

Hi Flavio - welcome to APUG from Japan! Peru has always been on my wish list of places to visit, so I'm eager to see your images.

Bienvenidos Flavio81. I worked in Peru for a couple of years, and was based out of Lima. But that was 30 years ago, and I haven't been back in 15 years. I hope to be in the area (probably Ecuador) and am looking forward to a drive down the coast to visit Lima again. It is a lovely city. I lived on Avenida Arequipa in Miraflores. I hope you plan on posting some pictures!

Hi Flavio and welcome!

I'm about to travel to Lima in three weeks and was wondering if there are any places I could buy film(B/W) and chemicals there or if it is generally better to bring them along.
Was also searching quite a lot but didn't found any darkrooms one could rent for a couple of hours, do you know of any?

Thanks!
Zoltan

Greetings from another green but grand!

None of these old men is going to harm You, I should know, I registered a couple of days ago and I'm still alive! Should they try some old trick, then go to plan B, pretend You're a fan of all digital stuff. That will chock them so much, they won't be able to post anything for weeks...

Hi Flavio, this is my best shot at contacting you since I can‘t dm you yet. I am traveling southamerica and will be arriving in Peru in abiut 3-4 weeks. And I wanted to ask you if you could point me to a good camera store in Lima? I‘d be really grateful.

Welcome to Photrio.
You could start a thread in the Lounge with a title such as : "Photographic resources in Peru?"

I have my own camera store in instagram. If you want film cameras, that is. However, every camera I place on sale sells within 3 days.

I'm sending you a PM so you can contact me.
