Hello! I am a photographer based our of Houston. I've been getting ready to make the switch to medium format, and I am excited about doing my own film development soon. Currently use Aker Imaging for all my darkroom needs. Are there any other locals on this board?

Hi Tex. Welcome.
Embrace home development; it's easy, and much more satisfying. This is a good place for guidance and advice if you should ever need it.
Good Luck.

Greetings also from Houston. (I realize I'm six months late) Congrats on in-house developing; I find it easier than printing. If it weren't for this damn hurricane, I might have my DR built at my new house, but alas, tis not the case.

yup, just down i-45 in galveston...like skyver101 suggested - definitely dive into home processing.

this site has all the technical information you will ever need - in previous and current posts...and a bunch of reallllly helpful, friendly folks as an additional resource to reach out to.

the anticipation and excitement of seeing your first developed roll right out of the wash NEVER fails to thrill me.
likewise, seeing your first print starting to come up in the developer will always stay with you.

So, I'm wondering ... with Aker Imaging having shut down, what resources are left in the Greater Houston area for traditional photographers? The only thing I've been able to find is Kingwood Photo Lab and they charge exorbitant prices and can't develop E-6. I know there are plenty of resources in Austin and Dallas. It seems silly that I live in the third largest city in the country and there's nowhere for me to develop C-41 for less than $15

hello all, about to start a small film processing and contact service...looking to test the waters here.

i have 35+ years professional experience
b&w film processing and contact sheet and wet/darkroom printing experience.

services are available for 35mm,120,127, 4x5, 5x7, 8x10 and 11x14 formats. will eventually add wet/darkroom print services.

please contact me for more information if you are interested...houston camera exchange has added me to their referral list.

at this point this orders will be handled via postal service /fed ex/ups...i live close to galveston, texas.

my next step is to post this as a commercial listing here when i get up and running.
