I thought it would be polite to introduce myself before posting on the forum. I was directed to APUG by a fellow Leica forum member and am most impressed by the range of interests and expertise to be found here. Remarkable! The only problem is that I seem to have found yet another place to while away time that I can ill afford.

I currently use a Leica M7 with a range of lenses from 15mm to 90mm. I also have a Leica Digilux 2. I have no fundamentalist views that one format is Good and the other Bad. I no longer have access to a darkroom and am increasingly dependent on Photoshop for processing my images, analogue as well as digital.

I nearly forgot: I have just acquired a Rolleicord, about which I know nothing, and it is the desire to learn more that has brought me here. Yet another steep learning curve coming up, I expect.

I have a hankering to experiment with MF and am a bit afraid that if I get on with the Rolleicord I shall find yet more reasons to spend money that I should devote elsewhere. Yet, the bargains to be had in these digitally dominated times are irresistible. Aren't they? I don't know if I want you to answer 'yes' or 'no' to that one!

Anyway, it's good to be here and I look forward to catching up with all the information and advice.

All the best,

Chris Day

Hi Chris:

You'll really enjoy your time on this forum, and yes, the siren song of MF can be heard loud and clear here. I work with a 500C/M Hasselblad system, but won't give up my Nikon FM2n !

Chris,

Welcome from a very cold New York City tonight!

Like yourself, I'm a film shooter but I also scan and sometimes use PS for cropping. Discussion of the former is the purpose here. Discussion of the latter is best done on the sister site (Hybrid.com - or something like that)!

BTW: there are a number of us 35mm folk (both RF and SLR) who've been delving into the the MF world now given the price collapse of such gear.

I've now got a Hassey in NY (upstate in Copake) and a Bronica in Tucson!

Thanks to Pat, John and George for your warm welcome. I am already finding the forum a rich source of information, and I've hardly scratched the surface!

All the best,

Chris
