Hi all, new member from England here.

I've previously lurked on these forums for a little bit, and it seems to be a great community with a collective wealth of knowledge on all things analogue.

I'm an autodidact when it comes to photography, and would class myself as a pretty keen amateur. I was weaned on digital, and shot DSLRs exclusively up until about a year ago, when I first dipped my toe into film; I had been contemplating trying medium format for the past several years, and ended up plumping for a mint Pentax 6x7 MLU and three lenses. Well, the analogue bug definitely bit me, and now I own a Hasselblad 501CM and three lenses too! Over and above the different look/tonality and process of working with film, I find I actually really enjoy the enforced slower pace and shot discipline when using these cameras. I certainly wouldn't rule out large format at some point in the future...

To some degree I also have a professional interest in the whole analogue process (I'm an organic chemist by training/profession), and enjoy learning all I can about it. Hopefully my chemistry knowledge can be of some use to others here too.

Anyway, good to meet you all!

I can tell that you are both talented and quite smart. After all you own a Hasselblad.

Be careful! When I first joined APUG I only had 2 cameras, now I have at least 20 different models (but at least twice that in actual cameras, as I have multiples of favourites). This place will introduce you to cameras and processes you didn't think you needed, until you do! Welcome!

When I joined APUG I had one camera, shot color print film and I was happy.
Then I inherited a Mamiya C330 with 65mm, 80mm and 250mm lens and every accessory know to man.
I traded the Mamiya in for a Hasselblad 503 CX and a 250mm lens.
...
Now I have a Tessina L single frame 35mm camera, Voightland Vito II, WideLux F-7, Nikon N75, Nikon F100, Hasselblad 503 CX [50mm, 80mm, 100mm, 150mm, 250mm, 500mm, 2XE, Hasselblad 903 SWC, 4"x5" Pacemaker Speed Graphic, 4"x5" Graflex Model D, Jobo CPP Processor, 4"x5" Super Chromega II 5D-XL, more lenses, darkroom full of goodies.
My advice is to run as fast as you can

Yup, this here, too. But I think I've also improved due heavily to my time here and with others I've met through here.

Thanks!

After shooting 6x7 and 6x6 almost exclusively for the past year, I'm increasingly finding I prefer those aspect ratios over that of 35mm. I also particularly like how wide angle shots look far more natural due to the inherently lower degree of corner distortion in the rectilinear projection.
