I stumbled on APUG purely by accident while on-line attempting to find information on incident light metering. What a gold mine I,ve discovered! A light at the end of a very dark digital tunnel.
Although I shoot 90% B+W (tri-x and FP4) I havn,t been in my darkroom since Christmas.Sitting on the fence,so to speak,on weather to stay analog or go digital.(The sirens song of that new Nikon D70 is alluring).
Glad to state that I,m no longer atop the fence (those pointy bits were painful). My workhorses (Nikon FE +FM2) are locked and loaded. The weather is moderating,-15c,and I shall be out hunting for texture and shadow detail in the snow drifts. On the way home I shall swing by my favorite photo shop for some new Tmax developer.

Greetings from the South West of England and I'm sure you will enjoy it here. We will have to do something about that "Tmax developer" addiction though, I'll call for our High Priest of the Sacred Rodinal to pay you a visit

Welcome from Stittsville Ontario, one of Ottawa's captive taxable amalgamated municipalities  . You'll find great people here and lots of help.

I have heard of the magic formula (rodinal) but, alas,it isn,t available in my city.Neither is a lot of chemistry that I,d like to experiment with(photo wise).Do you think I should give it a shot? Are the results that noticable? If so I can arrange to have a friend pick me up a liter in Halifax and drop it off on her way through.
Thanks for the tip,
Mike

Rodinal is very much a love or hate soup and a quick search here will bring up a few (errrm several threads :D ). I use it with all the Ilford Films rated from iso 25 to 6400 (also the odd roll of Tmax) so as you can see I like it

Good decision

Hi Mike, I think you made a very good decision. Mirrors my own in some ways, but after being in the darkroom last night, and producing REAL handmade B&W prints, I know there is no turning away from THE WAY . . .

Enjoy your visits here.
