I'm way up in the Great White Canadian North, past Minden Ontario, just below Algonquin Provincial Park. Interested in Nature shots of anything that walks, crawls, swims, flies or just grows with roots.I'm 63 and semi-retired. Been using a Nikon F2AS since 1971. Glad to find this fine photo site. Have my own colour darkroom. Still use film and paper. May get a scanner one day so I can post images. Mostly shoot Kodachrome 64 @A.S.A. 80. (I.S.O.) is for you young fellows ! Also Kodak Tri-x 400 and Ilford HP400. B&W prints on Ilford polycontrast, colour slides on Cibachrome, now changed to Ilfochrome, now dissapeared from the face of the earth ? Hmmm. Back to Kodak Ektar paper I guess. Or scan, then laser printer ? Will neat this up later when I stuff more info in. Enough for now. /Clay

Greetings Clay2.

My sympathies about the Ciba. I, too, recall making beautiful prints with it. Oh, well, thankfully we still have film, paper, and APUG!

Stay warm up there in Canada, and give my regards to the wildlife critters.

Hi and welcome from even farther north. I sure wish it was white here. No snow, no skiing. (downhill) This is a great site. Enjoy.

Oh how I love the Algonquin Provincial Park!!!! Spent a week there two summers ago paddling a canoe without a care in the world.

Welcome.

Skip the Ektar paper. Don't be afraid of scanning and modern inkjet printing. True it's not analog, but as long as you keep shooting film, you'll keep more control of the look and feel that we are losing. Especially as more and more quality papers are available for the modern printers.

I now use a Hahnemühle fine art photo rag paper that viewers just love. There's a lot to explore out there.

To all the members in Canada, I so love vacationing in your beautiful country!!!

Hi Clay,

Welcome today from NYC, yesterday from Tucson and tomorrow from upstate New York!

Got to spend a couple of days in your area, including Algonquin, some years ago. Unfortunately, one of them was being stuck inside a motel room on a rainy day waiting for the Toyota dealer to replace my transmission!

Will have to get back up there one day for sure.

Welcome from Melbourne, Australia. I thought Ilfochrome was still available. I don't use it as much as I used to, but am sure there was discussion on APUG that the Ilfochrome part of Ilford had a new owner who was continuing to produce Ilfochrome chemistry and paper.

Clay,
Welcome from Greater Toronto, I am also a B&W and slide shooter. I discovered Kodachrome last year and I love shooting with it when I can.

Greetings from Regina. Do B&W and slides, too. My last photographic experience: developing Velvia in 4x5. Wow. I usually shoot Nikons though.

Hello from Cincinnati, Ohio. Would love to visit Algonquin. I occastionally visit Toronto and Calgary on business and used to enjoy time in Banf when I was younger, growing up in Montana.
Hope you enjoy APUG. It's a great place.

Welcome Clay. I travel through your area often and love it. Oxtongue Rapids, Ragged Falls and Algonquin Park - a beautiful area to photograph and walk.

Thank you all

Thank you all very much for welcoming me to APUG.
I have sent pm's to several people but the list keeps growing every day !
Looks like I have found a home.Let me know if you are heading for the Algonquin
Area. Problem is, I only have computer access in the winter in the city.
From May to November I am up there in the bush. Always glad to hear from you all.

/Clay
