Since I'm replying to threads I may as well introduce myself . . . *stands up* Hi, my name is Mike and I'm an alternative processes addict :-D
Yup, I'm one of those strange people who processes film & paper in leftover coffee, makes (well attempts to make) dry plates in his bathroom, and in my spare time play with halo-chrome toner & emulsion lifts (sometimes even in the same project - MADNESS! )
While I typically shoot 35mm with the occasional 4x5 I've embarked on a large format project this summer, working almost exclusively with plates & orthocromatic sheet film as a way to discipline myself into choosing & composing shots more carefully (limited to 10 film/plate holders before I have to go home and process it all, so I'm a bit more discriminating than normal).
I'm not an alt process addict like you are, although I have been known to dabble in cyanotypes now and then. Look forward to seeing your work whenever you get a chance to post them.
Hey Mike. Discipline? We don't need no stinking discipline! (this from a guy who changes every variable every time, just to see what happens...) Welcome to APUG.
Hi Mike - welcome from another alt-process junkie of a different variety - platinum/palladium, gum, wet plate and daguerreotypes here. You're in good company, there's still plenty of room in the asylum!
Hello! I get it! Only cyanos, gum, and pt/pd so far, but I want to try others when I get current projects completed (or abandon them!) Photography, all processes, is addictive! Our spouses (for those of us lucky enough to have them) should start a co-dependancy group.
