Hi All,

I am an amateur/hobbyist photographer based in Alberta, Canada. I primarily shoot landscapes and natural scenes with multiple analog formats. These include 35mm and 120, with aspirations to make the jump to large format in the near future. I joined Photrio for the vast wealth of knowledge for the analog topics I am increasingly and mutually interested in as members here, and the integrity and quality of the classifieds. Lastly, I am building a darkroom for the first time, all input and recommendations are welcome and appreciated. Hope to talk to many of you soon!

Cheers,

Nick

I'm from Saskatchewan, originally (Saskatoon). I was just in Alberta last month, mainly in Calgary, then out in Drumheller. We were looking at condos in Calgary. I'm considering a move there in a few years after retirement. Can't afford to live in BC anymore...Wife and I want to enjoy our retirement, with lots of travel. Interesting how just recently there have been many ads on the radio here enticing BCer's to move there!

Welcome to Photrio!

Welcome to Photrio!

As far as amenities go and location, Calgary is in my opinion, the place to live in Alberta. I know many BC'ers making the move to AB, cost of living is something else along the west coast.

I know but from the States one flies into Calgary. So is Kicking Horse.

Kicking Horse is a canyon, near Golden, BC. I just drove through the pass last month. Major road construction to twin the Trans Canada through the pass. That old road was pretty scary!

Welcome from a former Saskatchewanian, former Calgarian and now an Ontarioian.

With respect to the darkroom question:
My #1 design tip would be to have more electrical outlets than you think you need, consider surface mounting so you can adjust as the processes firm up.

The old road is more fun in the snow.

And that is where I messed up when I made my darkroom. Can never have enough electrical outlets! Thankfully, my son is an electrician now so he will sort this out for me...

I enjoyed Calgary. Left with a very positive feel. Even my wife did. Eric, we could become Calgarians! But I'll NEVER be a Flames nor a Stamps supporter! Habs and Riders, all the way!
