I stumbled across these notebooks in a local gift shop and think they are ideal for keeping exposure records and general note keeping.

Tall, but slim enough to fit in a front shirt pocket and with a good hinge that flips back out of the way. It even has a pocket on the back inside cover to hold a few business cards.

Obstensibly, they are for news reporters, but are just the form factor I was looking for.

I think they are great!

if you shoot sheet film, Stearman Press has some custom printed notebooks that are pretty nice. Not terrible useful for roll film though...

I just use a bound notebook.

B&H has these for 35mm, medium format and large format. I use them for LF.
They also have notebooks for darkroom but I don;t have a darkroom.

If you shoot in the rain or around water, Rite-in-the-Rain has blank notebooks that can be used in the rain. They also have space pens that write as well in the rain including upside down.

Wow, great find. I love stuff like this. Handcrafted in usa.

Their memo books are also excellent for a pocketable notebook.

I've been using a space pen and waterproof notebooks for years, makes for perfect note keeping. Once I got completely soaked in a very long rain event, my notes written with a ball point pen, were literally running off the paper, staining anything cloth like that it ran into or on. I switched to pencils from then on until I heard about the space pen.

An interesting aspect of the space pen ink is that when used normally it is a black ink. Writing on the back of RC paper underwater in the darkroom then after the paper is dried, the colour of the ink is blue.

Another fun fact about space pen ink, it is a solid ink substance. The rotation of the ball creates just enough heat to melt the ink, which then dries almost instantly once deposited onto something.

I learned long ago pens do not work at -20. I bought a box of golf pencils, keep four or five in my pack at all times.

Shoot Film Co. also makes a PhotoMemo notebook:
