Hello,
I have a Dalmeyer 12" 4.5 telephoto lens complete with lens hood and cap. What is it? does it have any value?

Are you sure it's a telephoto lens?
What are the exact markings / writings on it?
Does it look, for instance, like this one or this one?
Some photos would definitely help...

Photo of Dallmeyer lens

Here is a photo of the "great big lens." It indeed says telephoto and has 211939 marked in front of the aperture ring.
It doesn't look like anything I have seen on ebay.

Neither of those ^ are telephoto lenses.

Go look at sold Dallmeyer telephotos on eBay. $50 - 200 depending on exactly what the lens is and on presentation. Yours was made in the mid-'30s so isn't coated, you should adjust your price expectations down because of that.
