Ladies & Gentlemen:
I have a somewhat recently acquired XL which had a very stiff focusing issue. Well, it was so stiff I found the camera almost unusable. So, I located another lens rather than the superb 80mm Planar, this time a 100mm Tessar. The camera has been sitting for several weeks on its back. When I went to remove the lens I found the focusing ring was frozen so tight as to be completely unable to move. So, I cannot try the 100mm. I hope that some one here has an idea about how to qet the focusing ring to move so I can remove the 80mm and install the 100mm. Also any advice about how to free up a seriously stiff focusing ring would be very helpful too. Many thanks in advance.

If it's not physical damage, it's old lube.
So.............I really don't like to say this, but it does need a CLA.
You may try using a hair dryer to soften the hardened lube. Just remember. It just has to be soft enough, not soup.
