Graflex Super Graphics with and without a top mount viewfinder?

I've seen Super Graphics with and without a top mount viewfinder. The ones without don't even seem to have a mount. So is the rangefinder supposed to be FOV accurate to the stock 135mm lens so it can be used for framing as well? Or were the supers sold without a viewfinder for those who would only use the ground glass for composing?

The viewfinder is a detachable accessory. It is attached to a bracket that is fastened to the camera by two screws. You need to punch holes through the covering at the correct locations. AFAIK every Super and Super Speed Graphic has the mounting holes.

You use different masks for different focal lengths, and the finder has rudimentary parallax correction based on distance.

I don't know if the rangefinder has the same field of view as a 135mm lens. You could use the pull-up sports finder for framing.

The name "Super Speed Graphic" on the camera means that the original Graflex lens had a Graflex 1000 shutter. A "Super Graphic" camera had a solenoid actuated shutter similar to the setup shown. That is what the batteries are for.

Well my Super Graphic has no mounting holes and there's no indication there's any under the covering either. I use mine hand held at times and find the sports finder.s excellent with a variety of lenses and with slight movements.

The camera's instruction manual shows how to find them. Unfortunately, I will not be able to get to the manual until next week.

I've adapted a Linhof Universal Viewfinder to my Super Graphic.

It's a True Zoom finder, that goes from 90 - 360 mm + Parallax Correction.

You can too. Unfortunately, I have NO Pix's of it & the people who did it,

WD Graphics, went out of business.

I have a Super Graphic without a top mount viewfinder and without any obvious holes to mount one. I have not looked around to see if the holes are under the covering. I use the built in rangefinder and occasionally the sports finder.

The electronic shutter on mine does not work, I think there is a break in the wire inside the bellows. A kind person on Graflex.org gave me very explicit instructions on how to separate the bellows and fix the flat wire but I'm a bit hamfisted so I have not attempted to fix and just use a cable release for now.
