Graflex 4x5 D Series SLR with revolving Graflok back and reflex finder. I had this camera modified by Richard Ritter in Vermont to add front tilt and drop. I was using the camera for a project involving making photos of reflections and wave patterns on the surface of water. As such I needed front tilt to achieve focus on the horizontal plane of the water. I also had drop added so that when using the tilt function the circle of coverage could be kept centered on the negative area. The system worked very well for me and I made some memorable images under some technically challenging conditions. The modification by Ritter are simple but effective. Both the tilt and drop are adjusted using an allen key that is stored in the top of the lens stage. The flap on the lens opening is held closed by a little tab that was added by Ritter. The lens board is held in by an allen screw on the top of the lens stage. The camera is fully functional and the shutter works well, but of course I cannot guarantee the accuracy. There seems to be some reinforcements of the shutter. Apparently these were added before I purchased it but, as far as I can tell they do not seem to interfere in any way the proper functioning of the shutter. I found the reflex finder to be especially helpful in photographing moving wave forms and reflections and it is held on by two spring clips on each of the opening for the ground glass above the shutter. I believe that Ritter modified the lens stage to take Canham lens boards. Please ask questions as I am not a Graflex expert. I did own and use this camera for about 10 years and never had any trouble or light leaks with is.
The lens is not included in the sale. It is a 15" Wollensak Telephoto. A great match to the limited bellows draw on the graflex. It is available if you are interested.
