Got the stuck filter step-up blues

My new expensive Bay 6 --> 67mm step up ring gets stuck on the filter. I take it off with a filter wrench. But every time I screw it back on, no matter how carefully and lightly, it gets stuck.

Silicone spray or what?

That always happened with one of my cheapy step up rings from China. I put some silicone bike chain lube on it. Problem solved.
