I got my Satin Snow Ground Glass today. I was happy to find it intact and that it dropped into the back as perfectly as the Toyo OEM glass that I was replacing.
As luck would have it, when the mail arrived, I was already working on a still life so I was able to swop out the glass and make a direct comparison with the same set-up, subject and lighting between the Satin Snow and Toyo glasses. It was a real pain of a straight down shot which made it hard to get at the best position for viewing the glass.
By Eye, he image on the SS was bright, even and easy to compose, but the real difference was when louping the glass. You get to focus on the fine detail of the image without the interference of the grain of the glass.
Good work Dave. This is a product that tangibly improves the photo taking experience every single time that you look at the back of your camera. I can't wait to try it outdoors in bright light. It should be a dream. This thing ain't coming off my camera unless it breaks.
I even put my first Satin Snow shot in the critique gallery.

That's why I have an order in for a replacement

I wound up puttting my "spare" 5X7 SS glass on the 5X7 reducing back for my 8X10. I've gotta order a bunch o' stuff soon...

Neal,

When did you order yours? I have one on order, and I am wondering when I will get mine.

I'm jealous, ordered back in February screens for two cameras; and still waiting. The current screen on my Shen-Hao is almost useless especially as the days get brighter. Oh well, sounds like the wait is worth it.

For those waiting...they will get there (just not soon enough) but are well worth the wait. Order a 5x7 and 4x5 back in Dec for the Eastman No. 1 and the Crown Graphic, and what do you think happened in Jan...bought a B&J 5x7, that had a 4x5 back on it and have since added a 5x7 back so yep! need to order at least one for each..and you know a back up for each is not a bad idea either..

They are not magic, don't make me a better photographer..just a good product at a very good price.

Considering it is pretty much a one couple show, I think they are getting the glass out pretty darn fast, with as many get ordered.

Worth the wait and dirt cheap to boot. I got one recently for my 8x10 and I really like the full view of the image with the no-corner-cut-off option. Great product at a terrific price.

They're such a good deal, that I ordered two. Yes, they took a number of weeks to arrive, but that was a minor inconvenience compared the how much brighter their glass is than my Tachi's original gg.

Steve,

Yours should be showing up real soon, it has been shipped, so I would expect arrival very soon.

Thanks.

I ordered both of mine with a generous corner cut. Question: How do you check for vignetting with no corner cuts?

I look through the front of the lens at some distance away, with the shutter opened and the iris set to the taking aperture. If I can see all four corners, then there would be no barrel vignetting.

Awesome, thanks. I got mine a week or so ago. The weather here has been bad, so I really haven't had a chance to really test mine out. I did have a break in the weather a week ago, and shot some twighlight stuff, and the first thing I noticed was that I could see to focus much easier. The real test will come on Sunday, when I finally get a chance to test this with my 90mm F8 lens.

I was out using mine last week, I was impressed with being able to focus my 8x10 without using the darkcloth. It helps to have a 5.6 lens when doing this though!

I received mine two days ago in 8x10 what a beautiful piece of glass.I have not had a chance to try it but just looking at it you can tell the difference.
It was a long wait but well worth it,thanks Dave.
