If anyone happens to be in the vicinity of Emporia, Kansas this fall, I will be showing about twenty to thirty prints at the Emporia Arts Council. The showing starts on 1 October and runs through 10 November. I'm psyched! First time for me.

Yes, congrats, Alex. I won't be anywhere near Kansas, so take a couple snaps of the gallery and your work on the walls for us!

That's so cool!

I'd drag my boyfriend down to the show, but it's probably within the time that my doctor won't let me travel...so it's most likely going to be a no go. I'll see if I can make it, though. I'd love to see your work.

Congratulations Alex...you're going to be one busy puppy and you'll probably learn more in the next 4 months as you've learned in the last 4 years!

I've mentioned this before to other people having their first show, but after the show is hung try to get into the gallery all by yourself after hours, and slowly soak it all in.

As photographers we usually take one image at a time and print them one at a time. In your first show it'll be the first time you can step back and see them as a cohesive whole, a culmination of who it is you are and what your images say. It'll also be the first time you've ever seen the best prints you've ever made, finished and framed on a wall, because you'll have pushed yourself and improved your technique just for this event. You'll walk away changed.

Have fun with it
