Gossen Sixticolor

I got Sixticolor. No instruction. While in my room or outide where to direct the flat cell (the one like opall glass) to get temperature of the light, say in my room. The light reflects from just any colored surface and it can change temperaturere, so to direct into the light source can be tricky. Also, can that meter keep readings of temperature +/- 5%.

Direct the flat disk toward the light source, press the button for a couple of seconds, release, and it will hold the reading.

If the light source is bright enough (and indoors it often isn't bright enough), it will put you in the ballpark.

I find it useful sometimes to decide outdoors where there might be a combination of factors (overcast, shade, etc.) how much of a warming filter I might need, but with a little experience, you'll be able to read those situations without a meter.

Indoors, I find it hard to get a believable reading usually.

One thing David didn't mention was be on the lookout for a set of decamired filters, the combination just makes color corrections effortless.

Fascinating, thanks. I have to say I never use mine any more (I replaced it with a 3-color meter). Are they still worth anything?

It is one of the prettiest pieces of photographic kit ever made, though. That and the red Kodak stop clock (which has lousy ergonomics, but great looks).

I still use mine quite a bit Roger, it helps that I have a set of Series 9 Decamired filters though...
