Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a Gossen Sixtar light meter that had severe corrosion on the PCB — the green verdigris had destroyed 3 copper traces on the board.

I cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol, contact spray, and scraped the solder points mechanically. The galvanometer responds correctly when tested with a multimeter, and the CdS cell also shows variable resistance as expected.

I replaced the 3 broken traces with wires (green, orange, blue), but before soldering permanently I want to confirm the correct connections — especially where the GREEN wire should connect. From the photos it seems to go between the galvanometer and the main battery holder, but I'm not 100% sure.

Does anyone have the service manual or internal wiring diagram for the Gossen Sixtar? Or has anyone done a similar repair and can confirm the circuit topology?

I'm attaching photos of the board before and after cleaning.

Thank you!

Learn Camera Repair website has a "Gossen Sixtar Service Instructions" Factory service instructions on their website, would that be similiar to what your looking for? If anything, you can send em an email asking

Have a look there:
Has nice and clear pics with the original PCB copper tracks.

Note:
  • There may be damage on the reverse side as well;
  • You might consider replacing the adjustment potentiometers, or at least contact cleaner + some back and forth sweeping.
  • Of course you need to re-calibrate against a known good meter. A good occasion to change to silver oxide --SR44 in adapter, since silver oxide in 625 format is unobtainium.

The soldered point above the battery check contact, where the green wire originates (intended to replace the broken trace between this point and the upper point where the yellow sensor wire connects): does it connect to the positive (+) or negative (-) battery terminal on the underside of the board? Also, when I press the side button, does the lever that moves that metal disc make contact with any specific component beneath the main circuit board? Thank you.
