This is a gorgeous and very usable 1906 - ish brass lens. It's a Bausch & Lomb Plastigmat. No, it's not the Plastigmat Portrait.
The Plastigmat was Bausch & Lombs way of side stepping the Zeiss Patent and offering a slightly cheaper lens than the Protar VII. The Plastigmat is 8 elements in 2 groups just like the Protar. But it wasn't quite a well corrected as the Protar and is convertible only in Symmetrical equivalents. So it's a double convertible, not a triple.
This one is 12 3/4" f6.8 combined, and 24" f13.5 converted. Slightly slower than the Protar. It would cover 10X12 easily with movements. It has an angle slightly less than an equivalent Dagor.
A very sharp anastigmat and since there are only 4 air-glass interfaces, the contrast is like a Dagor's. This one is in superb condition. I'm seeing no glass flaws and just a tiny bit of yellowing at the edges. It has a rim ding at the back. Beautiful round aperture. The aperture is the old US system. 4, 8, 16. 32, 64, 128 etc. f16 is the anchor. It's f16 in both systems and you just count up or down from there. Easy to use. $155 + shipping please.
