Hi everyone, I can't resist interesting old cameras. For an upcoming trip to Nepal, I had been looking for a compact 35mm fixed lens camera. I will need to carry all day supplies myself, so my Leica M2 kit with lenses was a bit heavier than I wanted to puff up and down trails. My old Leica IIIC is out for repair and may not be ready in time. Thanks to the good advice on Cameraquest, I bought a Yashica Electro 35CC from a fellow on eBay. After testing it with Kodak BW400CN, I am really pleased! Here are a few examples from a recent car trip to Santa Fe. I had an old Canon 52mm polarizer, which I used to emphasize the brilliant western skies and clouds.
This little Yashica has a clean viewfinder without haze, and the rangefinder lines up perfectly at infinity. And it uses a modern silver or lithium battery - very convenient. The shutter will stay open up to about 15 sec. for low-light work. The 6-element 35mm lens looks great. Thanks for reading.
