Dear APUG members,
I'm looking for a good spiral tank. The one I have now make my darkroom stink. (ok, I know it smells like a creativity, dr. bob). It's cap does not fit well and liquid tends to pour away during the agitations. And reels are peace of plastic which makes me stay too long in a darkroom, sweating and cursing.
Requirements: developing one 120 or two 135 rolls simultaneously, good sealing, good reels (easy film winding), and the most important, good price. European suppliers are prefered.

Any of your recomendations are welcome.
Thanks in advance,

I personally liike the Kindermann stainless steel tanks and reels. The plastic caps will stay on tight and the reels load easily. I find the stainless steel easier to clean and dry.

Jobo is great - for doing a lot of various things like .... large batches or many film sizes. For single rolls - I bought a SS tank on e-bay real cheap and it has been flawless - uses very little chemistry - doesnt leak and can be loaded when it is still damp.

You can't beat SS tanks and reels. You can drop them, load them damp or whatever. Longer development times may need a water bath as SS is much more of a conductor then plastic. If you take the time to learn to load SS it's much better, but Paterson reels are very easy to load (dry) and are quite resiliant for plastic. My opinion, learn to use SS. Once you learn you can use the same tank and reels for virtually the rest of your life.

I can advise you the Jobo 1520 tank + one extra 1501 reel for use with 2X 135-36 films.
With the red Jobo clip you can also handle 2X 120 roll films in the tank.

Minimum inverse volume 485ml, but 500ml is also fitting.
Easy loading, no leaks from the red lid if properly stored and seperate spare parts available. If necessary you can extend with the 1530 module for more films/reels.

Best regards,

Robert

Thank you for your replies and recommendations. I think that stainless steel tank will be my choice.
Best wishes!
