After a year working away from my beloved New Orelans, and living in a FEMA Trailer, I will be returning for good tomorrow!

For those of you that don't know, I worked at a hospital that was condemmed becouse of hurricane Katrina, and was transferred over 200 miles from New Orleans and my wife and daughter. I am being transferred back to a renovated facilty tomorrow.

We still do not have a home, and will live with family until some things get worked out with the aid we are to receive adn the oil spill that our home was in. (another long story)

I am very happy to be returning home, I has been very difficult being away from my girls and I look forward to a more normal life, and hopefully soon a new home.

Apug has been truly wonderful during the last 15 months of my life, I have received so many offers to help from you guys and just want to thank you all. My family thanks you as well, for allowing me to photograph again has giving me new meaning, and without the donations I received that would not have been possible.

I look forward to this new step in our recovery.

That's great Sam! Wish you all the best and we're all rooting for you!

As we say in France, Bonne Chance et Bonne Courage!

A few miles from where I live is an Acadian museum; many Cajuns came from this part of France.

Cheers,

R.

Don't forget to take pictures of your homecoming!

Congratulations Sam. Great news!

Ooooh Roger, sorry to hear that!

'Dem cajuns 'de eat any'ting ya' no'

Well, I did have roast fillet of donkey for dinner tonight -- and very good it was! Accompanied with roast potatoes, courgettes and garlic, and a sparkling Saumur.

Gimme de Cajun food mon.

Cheers,

R.

Glad.
Sam.
I'm so glad for Sam I am

Sorry Rich, but our daughter is 5 and sometimes Dr Suess just gets stuck in your head!

Congrats, Sam. I hope you and your family continue to move quickly on your journey back to normalcy. Your willingness to share your challenges and beautiful vision have enriched me, and I believe everyone here on APUG. I look forward to the time when you can work with the dreadful experience behind you.

All the best,
Daniel

That's wonderful news, Sam. Your series of the aftermath was so compelling. I can't imagine how it must make you feel to be able to go home at last. Congratulations!

That's good to hear Sam. Maybe one day I'll be able to go back to Nawlins and we can get to visit. I'd love to see your work firsthand.
Shoot some good ones for me okay?

Wow! It's about damn time, huh? I could not be happier for you if I tried

Sam: great news on your homecoming. I received my copy of your book on Saturday, and it is truly excellent work. How you are able to continue photographing at the quality and quantity that you do in the face of all of the adversities that you have faced is beyond me. But being a photographer, I suspect that is what got you through it all.

A tough year Sam, but you beat it! Good news!

Congratulations Sam, there is no place like home!

It's funny, after seeing your photos, and even despite all the damage shown in them, I feel like I know your home, almost as well as I know mine.

Must have something to do with the photographer:wink: .
