I'm from Potter County PA for the last 11 years. Originally form Chester County PA. Been shooting digital for the last 3 years. Just been bored lately with it. Last week I won a Petri 7s on ebay for $15.00. Took it out yesterday and shot a roll of b&w. Forgot to focus for at least the 1st 15 exposures! Planning on getting the mamiya 645 out this weekend! This site is great!
Now I'm in the process of finding out if my friend who I gave all of darkroom equipment to several years ago still has it!!
Anyone else on this forum from nearby?

Brad,

I'm not from nearby, but frequently see the mountains of central Pennsylvania when I drive from Massachusetts to visit my mother near Pittsburgh. Have seen scenes of great beauty and have been terrified driving 65mph in mountain fog (trapped between two 18 wheelers).

Enjoy your camera and find the good light,

Brad,

Not from nearby, but I have cousins up there, they have a farm in Hector township (by the Tioga county line.) Last I checked, they're limited to dial-up internet, no broadband up there. Cell phones are pretty spotty, too. I imagine your supplies, and any processing services you purchase, will be mail-order. Can't imagine any photo stuff for sale up there except the occasional disposable camera or 3-year-expired roll of generic color print film!

Welcome back to the dark side, Brad. We have a new MidAtlantic group in 'Community' and will post stuff there from time to time. We have an outing planned for late April in southern Delaware and may set up other outings in the future, maybe Lake Jean at Red Rocks, for example. Welcome back again.

Actually we have dsl here in Galeton & cell phone service just within town(if you leave town no cell phone)!

Definitely no photo supplies! Williamsport & Elmira are the closest places.

We're pretty isolated up here! But then that's why we moved here!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I look foward to getting back into film!

Thats good...now you can start documenting all those old farm buildings along the highway that runs just north of harrisburg and then heads south into MD and WV. I have stopped to photograph some...but since I'm from New England, its not getting done very fast! OH, by the way, welcome back

Galeton! Waaaaal, ya didn't say ya were from the the big city, son!!! The farm I'm talking about is 9 miles up Phoenix Run Road (one mile east of Galeton on Rt 6, turn left just past the church), beyond Sunderlinville. No cell service up there.

Except....... a few summers ago I was up helping take in silage. We were in a field on a hill. There started to be a stream of folks on dirt bikes, ATV's, etc. coming in the field and running up the hill. Now, folks in Potter Co. are pretty casual about private property, but after all we were running big farm equipment around -- you definitely don't expect to avoid squashing an ATV when backing up a silage wagon in your own field! After a while it became clear -- the top of my cousin's field was the only place around where cell phones would work. All those folks were running up there to make phone calls!

Welcome to the forum. My wife and I will be motorcycle riding on Route 6 sometime this summer. I don't envy you your winters, though!
