Good morning from Canada

I've been lurking for a few weeks so I thought I'd join, say 'Hi', and perhaps learn a thing or two.

I've been interested in cameras since I was a little kid. I remember playing with my parents Kodak Brownie Hawkeye that they kept hidden in their bedroom closet. I'm sure they didn't appreciate me doing multiple exposures or opening the back and turning the knob just to see the film move from one spool to the other. .

Over the decades I've owned a couple Canons, several Nikons, and a few Sonys. I'm now retired and recently moved over to the lighter, smaller Lumix M4/3 system but still occasionally enjoy shooting with film for old times sake. Cheers.

Ha ha! Thanks. Perhaps they still have some old stock 620 film kicking around. Oh and I can't forget the flash bulbs. Been out of them for several decades too.

A few of us here have some experience re-spooling 120 film and backing paper on to 620 spools.
It isn't too difficult, once you have done it a couple of times.
And as Valerie mentions, some cameras will accept a 120 film and spool on the feed side, if you are willing to bend a couple of bendable parts. A 620 take-up spool remains necessary for them.
My Brownie Hawkeye is like that. Is yours one of the "Made in Canada" versions?

Plenty of tutorials on youtube.
I've done it a few times to feed my Brownie Target, and Hawkeye. Work slow and keep everything taut.

As for the Brownie yes its made in Canada. There is warning printed on the inside that says it only takes 620, but not 120. I suspect its because of the different spool size? Don't know. It does have one spool inside so I'd have to find another but at this point that's unlikely to happen as its not a camera I want to mess around with. It does work, its in quite good condition, and still has the original Kodak 2-way flash guard. My late parents received it as a wedding gift in 1950 so I do know how old it is but at this point its simply a family keepsake with dozens of B&W family photos to go along with it.

My Brownie Target was my Grand Father's. I've been having a blast with it. Anyway, if you do decide to run some film through it, you can buy 620 spools on that auction site... Cheers!

The take up spool must be a 620 spool so you must save the spool when the film in developed. You can use 120 film, but remember the first sentence.

Thanks, but as I mentioned earlier I have very little interest in getting film for it. I only have it because its a keepsake, not something I want to use. Cheers.
