i know freestyle.biz and few other online shops, though they are american, and the taxes would duplicate the price of everything. So for the europeans whats a good store with variety for chemical supplies.

phototec.de is a good place to look at. You can also look at fotohuisrovo.nl.

An interesting newcomer on the list is: Dead Link Removed in Germany. No minimum order and Paypal payment option. I've ordered from them and will order again.

I find their offer very limited, only Agfa and Rollei, no Kodak and no Ilford.

Seem like a well-stocked but strange place. They won't sell Hydroquinone to privat individuals but have no trouble with selling silver nitrate. They claim to sell photo chemicals, but how do they expect one to make developer without hydroquinone?

Of course, that's not your fault AgX, but do you have another source for raw chemicals?

Ralph, I did not realize that Hydroquinone issue. But in the defend of postorder sellers in general, I have to hint at the fact that recently the german legislation on sale of chemicals has been tightened, especially for toxic and explosive stuff. That's in general why there are more restrictions on sale to private persons.

Another source in Germany for raw chemicals is Suvatlar. Their listing is to be found somewhere at the Wolfgang Moersch site.

How about good European film shops? All these German shops have ridiculous Versandkosten (20 or 30€) for Ausland :-(

To head back with the basis of the subject... What about French shops? I'm back from UK and start lacking essential raw chemicals and all sources I can find are too expensive (2-3 times what I use to pay) and lack stuff (I'd try to avoid double or triple shipping charges according to their prices).
If there weren't customs problems I'd get in London to buy those by Kg before opening a business here... But there is those damn customs...

It might depend on which Ausland you are in (you don't mention where you live), but when ordering at nordfoto (or at least their eBay shop), macodirect and fotomayr I have never paid more than EUR 10 for shipping.

*Some* German shops may have ridiculous Versandkosten, but certainly not *all* of them do.

Dunno, no problem from France to UK no problem but I had to say goodbye to near than 500g of various chemicals on the way back (both by ferry so no real explosion hazard...).
The main problem is that in the meanwhile the legislation here got quite tightened about chemicals. One years ago my local could have everything needed now they can't without a prescription plus a validation of a special unit of the local administration (hey guys I'm not buying any opium or other drug...)

Can you not order from a French chemical or photographic supplier?

That's what I am looking for... the ones I found are too expensive and don't have all that I need (I've sent mails that weren't answered yet) so I'll pay twice or 3 times more shipping for an already expensive product...
