Good deal for a starter?

I found this in my area, it appears to be a nice seller, maybe would go lower than $50.

At the moment, I own NO darkroom equipment whatsoever, I am slowly working toward home developing, hopefully print making with 6x7 negatives.

What would this enlarger allow for print size, quality, etc?

I think the C700 goes up to 6x7, but you'll need a 6x7 carrier for it. The lens pictured is for 35mm, but you can get the appropriate lens inexpensively. You should be able to make 11x14 prints on the baseboard. It would also be a good light source for contact printing your new 4x5 negatives. He's also tossing in paper/chemicals. Ask if he has an easel available, but I wouldn't make that a deal breaker- cheap 8x10 ones are around.
I think it's a good way to get started.
 

Damn, he has the 6x6 - if only I had a Mamiya 6! Would that lens NOT work for MF at all? Actually, could be a good excuse to bust out some of my old 35mm gear, for a warm up. 11 by 14 prints are what I'm looking for, I would just need bigger trays. And YES you read my mind about the contact prints haha.
 
I don't think the column is long enough for 11X with ~90mm lens. Some will say the use 80's with 6X7 but that still leave the question of column length.

Until you find a 6x7 carrier, you can always make one out of mat board.
While you're there, ask if he has any beakers, safelight, and the easel.
 

Nice. I can always start with 35 for practice but will I need a lens in addition to the carrier?

Yes, I gotta find some other tools.
 
Looks like there are some plastic trays in the background - See if you can snaffle them instead of (or as well as) the enamel trays being offered.

Yes, you will need another lens. There may be one with the kit if the seller did 6x6 .
 
The seller with the C700 has a 3.5 inch wollensak and a 100mm beseler.

I can't find specs on these anywhere, would these work for 6x7 negatives? The attached lens appears to be 50mm for 35.
 
If I were you, I would snap up the Beseler kit, it will handle up to 6x9 negatives and is a more substantial machine. The seller shows they will take $50 for the Bessy Heck, if you have the budget, grab both.
 
Yes but you will need another lens for MF.

So this seller actually has a second Besler that he just mentioned, and it comes with many extras, at a cost. This is a Besler 23c with a 150 Schneider lens and film carriers for 35 - 6x6 - 6x9 and 645 - he wants $125 for that setup, but I'm not sure what the 150 lens would allow me to do. Does anyone know if I can use the 6x9 carrier for a 6x7 negative? I shoot both 69 and 67 but mostly my RZ67.

Lastly, he has some extras to offer, here is the cost breakdown. "[FONT=arial, sans-serif] three easels as well, I'd part with those for $5 for the speed easel, $10 for the two blade classic, and $20 for the bogen 11x14. also a Small kodak safelight with 2 filters $10. "[/FONT]
 
The 150 won't work on the 23C, it's used for 4X5 so would work with the enlarger pictured,
You could mask the 69 carrier down to 67 if you wanted to.

It sounds like the owner doesn't know what they have. If you go for this make sure everything fits. The carriers
aren't interchangeable but the lens boards are so the 3.5" and 100 lenses will work on booth enlargers but the 150 will ONLY
work on the 45.

With either one make sure there are two condensers and they're not damaged.
FWIW the condensers are in the tube just above the filter drawer and will have flat surfaces showing on both the top and bottom.
 
You need a 75mm to 80mm for MF prints.
 
I am sort of leaning toward the C700 - because it comes with two lenses, I asked the seller why he is pairing the 150 with the 23c and what HE used these for, if he ever did. I just want a setup that works. Ideally, 67 and 69 capabilities, I can deal with contact prints for 4x5 for now.
