Gold Leica - If you have $20,000

So tacky. Would you actually admit to owning that Leica?

1000 gold plated M4-2s with a matching 50 1.4 Sumilux were made in 1979 to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of Oscar Barnack’s birth. These we’re about the last brass top plate cameras until the Millennium came to market twenty years later.

If I were to get a $20,000 bling camera it would a gold plated Alpa 11.

I just found it humorous that the first comment would be on the scratching issue...

Gotcha. I was actually the 2nd comment.
I'm finding the entire situation sadly funny, so when a thread about an even more ridiculous camera appeared, I couldn't resist.

And the meeting is in a public place, so it's super safe and everything!

Yup, that's how I've done it before.

Only problem? I find these gold cameras... not to my liking. But that actually is a really decent price given the lens with it.

I found that craigslist ad on ebay, so it is real. Interestingly the pics on ebay show far more detail. That camera was used! Not a shelf queen.

I would rather have what this guy describes:-

If I had $ 20,000 to spend I certainly wouldn't spend it on a Leica, especially not one in such poor taste as a gold plated one, firstly because I'm perfectly happy with my four Canon F1s, and secondly there are many other things in my life I need more.

You coulda just bought one Nikon F4 and be done with it.

A perfect camera to visit San Francisco
