I'm selling gold chloride in a variety of forms at a discount to Bostick & Sullivan prices:

50 ml 1% solution from Photographers' Formulary, sealed - $18
60 ml 1% solution from Photographers' Formulary - $18 (this bottle is a little grungy - see pic below. There's been a small leak through the inner seal. There's maybe 58 ml left)
15 grains (0.97g) glass ampoule from Merck - $35
15 grains (0.97g) glass ampoule in plastic tube from Baker Chemicals - $35
5g ACS reagent grade, solid, from Fisher Scientific, $170
5g solid, from Photographers' Formulary, $165. It's sealed, but the solid has absorbed moisture and liquefied.

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. Are you asking what I'd charge for the whole lot?

Is this used for toning B&W images for archival purposes

Yes, toning is the primary use. For silver gelatin prints, it probably increases archival stability, but it's probably not as effective as sulfide toning. I really used it for the lovely blue tones it produces, especially on warm-tone paper.

Make a solution of 50-100 g of ammonium thiocyanate per liter of water, then add 0.2 g gold (a 1 percent solution is convenient). That should tone at least one 16x20 print or the equivalent. Then, when you find the toner starting to lose strength, add more gold chloride. More thiocyanate speeds up toning. If you want to save on thiocyanate, heat the toner to 40C or so - this speeds up toning a lot.

The thiocyanate stays active at least a couple of days, but you'll probably need to add more gold before each toning session.

For some alternative processes, of course, gold chloride toning is essential for archival stability.

Ok, the second 5g bottle is claimed. Only the ampoule left. Ampoules aren't as hard to handle as you might think. Wash it, put it in a jar and crush it with a pestle, then add water to make a solution. Strain the solution to get rid of the shards.
