going to salton sea/anza borrego

Greetings all,

Any suggestions on particular destination points at either
location ( and times of day to be there )?

The Salton Sea is pretty freakin' long - I don't really know what
to expect at any given point. The satellite photos on line show
lots of ag to the south and not much around the edges
